Assembly item

It was the 6th of June 2014 and it was our turn to have an assembly item. It all started with technical difficulties. We had a problem with the microphone that made me a bit worried. Was this item going to work? We had mad scientists, contestants and a host and a quiz master. We had a little visitor in the hall, it was a fantail tweeting away. Finally it was my turn so I came out onto the stage There was hundreds of people looking at me and my group. I was the first to say something in my group. At first I felt very nervous but then I was proud and happy. I think it well because everybody loved our show and we all had fun.

                     water cycle

The whole world relies on water because without it there would be no life. But how do you think it works?

Evaporation:
Is Heat from the Sun causes water on Earth in oceans, lakes to evaporate turn from liquid into gas and rise into the sky. This water vapor collects in the sky in the form of cloud.
Condensation: As water vapor in the clouds cools down it becomes water again this is called condensation. example: if you put a cup of ice cold  water on the table and you went off to get the mail and you came back and seen the outside of the glass is wet. How is this there was no cracks in the glass “i know what it is called condensation.

Precipitation:
Water falls from the sky in the form of rain snow hail or sleet this is called precipitation

Transpiration: is similar to sweating, plants lose water which is absorbed into the atmosphere much like evaporation. evaporation and transpiration is known as evapotranspiration.

Sublimation:
It is possible for a solid to transform into a gas directly without becoming a liquid. The most common example of sublimation is dry ice  which at normal air temperature. Under certain conditions snow and ice.

the earth is the only plant in our solar system with a water cycle. after it rains the water just gets recycled or renewed.

how to catch an eel without a hook

Eeling without a Hook

This is how to catch an eel without a hook or henaki.

Eels have sandpaper like teeth so when they bite on to the bob their teeth get caught up. When you get one it is important not to rush. Most times you can get the eels head out of the water then you yank them out and then the bob will instantly come to. Be careful because they will find there way back to the water. Eeling this way is that no damage is done to the eel. You can easily release the eel and it will find its way back to the water without hurting them.

How to bob for eels the modern way
To make this modern bob you will need
  • broomstick
  • stocking
  • raw egg still in the shell

Tie the stocking to the broomstick.
Fill the stockings with 5 or 6 eggs. Make sure they are still in the shell.Next tie the loose end of the Stocking and secure it to the end of the Broom Stick and you're ready to go. Once you're at the spot just crack open the eggs and you can catch an eels.

Its not easy being a Rugby Ball

Its not easy being a rugby ball,

getting tossed on the ground by an All Black or even rolled in mud. It smells in the ruck's plus sweaty hands get rubbed all over me. Muddy wet boots kicking me high into the air. People fighting over me. Sadly I get kept in a stuffy garage all summer. I feel useless and flat. I finally get out but they have a new one. I am unflated  and put in the rubbish and taken away.

sea monster

                                   sea monster

As I slowly walked out onto the rocks to get ready to go for a dive I spotted a hideous creature looking at me.

I walked closer  to it and it justed stared at me with its brown beady eyes. it rough mud like back shone in the sun.His razor sharp teeth pointed right at me and they were also grotty .  Its mouth stayed open at all times because his teeth were so big.

it flops around and  swims very fast away from predators. it chomps anything in front of it.  if I was you I would keep away from this creature just in case its meat eating sharp teeth might bite your head off and rip you into pieces.

I wondered if it would swim away.
I decided not to go for a dive. I could still smell it hanging around a meter
away. so I slowly walked back. I looked out and wondered if it was back with its family. I guess I  will never know.
